Logging In

To access the Aether CMS admin area, navigate to /aether or /aether/login in your browser. You'll be presented with a login screen where you can enter your credentials.

The login page features:

  • Username field
  • Password field
  • Login button
  • Error messages (if login fails)

After successful authentication, you'll be redirected to the dashboard.

Dashboard Overview

The dashboard is your central hub for website management. It provides a quick overview of your site's content and allows you to access all management functions.

Layout Structure

The admin interface follows a consistent layout across all pages:

  1. Sidebar: Located on the left side, providing navigation to all major sections
  2. Header: Positioned at the top, containing user information and site-wide actions
  3. Content Area: The main area where content and tools are displayed

Sidebar Navigation

The sidebar contains links to all major sections of the admin interface:

  • Dashboard: Overview of your site
  • Posts: Manage blog posts and articles
  • Pages: Manage static and custom pages
  • Media: Upload and manage images and files
  • Themes: Customize your site's appearance
  • Users: Manage user accounts
  • Settings: Configure site-wide settings

On mobile devices, the sidebar collapses and can be toggled using the menu button (☰) in the top left corner.

Header

The header area contains:

  • View Site: A link to view your live site
  • User Menu: Shows your username and provides access to logout

Dashboard Elements

The dashboard is divided into several sections:

Statistics Cards

At the top of the dashboard, you'll find statistics cards showing:

  • Posts: Total number of posts with a link to manage them
  • Pages: Total number of pages with a link to manage them
  • Users: Total number of user accounts with a link to manage them

These cards provide a quick overview of your content and direct access to management areas.

Quick Actions

The Quick Actions section provides shortcuts to common tasks:

  • Add New Post: Create a new blog post
  • Add New Page: Create a new page
  • Upload Media: Add images or files to your media library
  • Update Settings: Modify your site configuration

These shortcuts save time by taking you directly to the creation screens.

Site Information

The Site Information section displays basic details about your site:

  • Site Title: The name of your website
  • Description: Your site's tagline or description
  • Active Theme: The current theme applied to your site

This information helps you quickly verify your site's basic configuration.

Responsive Design

Aether CMS features a fully responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes:

  • On desktop, the sidebar remains visible for easy navigation
  • On tablets and mobile devices, the sidebar collapses and can be toggled
  • Layout elements adjust to provide optimal viewing on any device

Mobile Navigation

On smaller screens:

  1. Tap the menu button (☰) in the top left corner to reveal the sidebar
  2. Select a section to navigate to it
  3. The sidebar automatically closes after selection

Keyboard Navigation

For power users, Aether CMS supports keyboard navigation:

  • Tab: Navigate between interactive elements
  • Enter/Space: Activate buttons or links
  • Escape: Close modals or dialogs
